Professor in Systems Physiology at the dept of Neuroscience at the Erasmus MC, Rotterdam, and Dean of Erasmus University College. He obtained his PhD at the Radboud University Nijmegen in 1995 after having studied Medical Biology in Utrecht. His research has always focused on the neural control of movement. He combines behavioral recordings with MRI imaging and single unit electrophysiology, TMS stimulation and modeling. He has published studies about healthy human and patient populations as well as different species of animals. Obtained grants include a NWO-VIDI, HFSP, a Marie Curie FP7 ITN.
