4D-EEG: from brain signal propagation to functional understanding
A continuation of the 4D-EEG project. To be able to properly distinguish patients early after a stroke on the basis of recovery potential requires knowledge of underlying recovery processes. The current project aims to make a breakthrough in this by making real-time signal transport in the brain visible for the first time from brain waves (EEG). This will enable us to better understand and make use of the adaptive capacity of the brain (“neuroplasticity”) in treatment.
HEROES
Frequent falling is one of the most common medical complications after stroke. In this project, we will develop the HEROES system, a novel exergaming system for home use that allows people with stroke to increase their resistance to balance perturbations. The ultimate goals are to prevent falls and fall-related injuries, save fall-related health-care utilization and societal costs, and help people with stroke maintaining independence in daily life.

ArmCoach4Stroke
The multidisciplinary ArmCoach4Stroke project is a cooperation between Erasmus MC, University of Twente, TU Delft, Amsterdam UMC, and private partners. The project aims to develop and evaluate a new and interactive therapy aid based on movement sensors to stimulate and optimize the daily use and exercise of the affected arm in the home environment by objective, personalized feedback to the patient and his/her therapist. The ArmCoach4Stroke will be developed in co-creation with (end)users.

NeuroCIMT
The NeuroCIMT programme aims to develop novel ways of monitoring and treating neurological diseases and sensory impairments through quantitative models of the brain, e.g. by using EEG recordings. Each of the eight projects is aimed at delivering a proof of concept or prototype for clinical application. The research programme combines fundamental research with actual applications in a clinical setting. Therefore academic, clinical, and industrial partners are in this program together.
