Dr. ir. Jetty van Ginkel is a biomedical engineer by training (University of Twente), she majored in Tissue Engineering under prof. van Blitterswijk. After obtaining her master degree Jetty pursued a PhD in biophysics (Delft University of Technology). During this time she had a leading role in the commercialization efforts of the patented technology she developed. She received the 2018 NWO Physics Valorization Chapter price as a recognition for her efforts. In addition she is an alumni of the Turning Technology into Business course at YES!Delft and remains a recurrent guest speaker. After her PhD, she held a position as business development manager at the technology transfer office of Erasmus Medical Center Rotterdam, where she extended her experience and network in intellectual property management, licensing, innovation, (VC) fundraising and business creation which prepared her for the next step. In 2017, Jetty received the Marina van Damme grant to follow a specialized track to become a Registered Technology Transfer Professional (RTTP) of which she is currently in the final stage. Since 2018 she is also board member of the prestigious Marina van Damme Network, supporting ambitious women in traditionally men dominated professions. In 2019 she was appointed chairwoman.
