Professor in Systems Physiology at the department of Neuroscience and Vice-Dean of Education at Erasmus MC, Rotterdam. He obtained his PhD at the Radboud University Nijmegen in 1995 after having studied Medical Biology in Utrecht. His research has always focused on the neural control of movement. He combines behavioral recordings with electrophysiology, TMS stimulation and modeling. He has published studies about healthy human and patient populations as well as different species of animals. Obtained grants include a NWO-VIDI, HFSP, a Marie Curie FP7 ITN.
